Hidden Sweetness: The Citrus of Huangyan unfolds within the distinctive spatial conditions of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum, initiating a dialogue between departure and placement. Moving through a sequence of rooms connected by corridors, the exhibition starts from Huangyan and traces the global, commodified journeys of citrus fruits - how they are calculated, sorted, and circulated across the world. At the same time, it seeks to retrieve, from the interstices of historical change, forms of agricultural knowledge, phenological intuition, and manual skill that have receded into obscurity.
Centered on scenographic experiences grounded in archival studies, the exhibition approaches the citrus plant from two intersecting perspectives: the journey of commodity movement and the legacy of agricultural techniques. Together, they reveal how a single fruit is shaped, classified, and consumed within global systems, as well as the human labor, technical infrastructures, and ecological relations concealed within these processes. This mobile trajectory is not only the movement of objects, but also a path along which value is continuously redefined.
